Rule 36: The Predicate Accusative


Verbs of calling, naming, and the like can take two different accusatives, one that is the direct object and the other the predicate accusative. So, "the teacher calls Julia her favorite" would have the direct object accusative as "Julia", and the predicate accusative as "her favorite".
